A Quiet Place: Day One has set an impressive new record with its huge box-office debut.
At the US box office, the prequel earned a massive $53 million during its domestic opening weekend. The international sales ($45.5 million) brought the debut total up to an impressive $98.5 million globally.

A Quiet Place: Day One also achieved the biggest debut in the franchise. It exceeded its predecessors A Quiet Place, which opened with $50 million and A Quiet Place Part II, which opened with $48 million.
"We listened to the fans about what they'd be looking for," said Paramount's president of domestic distribution Chris Aronson (via Variety). "This origin story, giving them a new city as the setting and fresh characters, all conspired to broaden the audience."
Digital Spy's review called A Quiet Place: Day One: "another excellent instalment in the franchise, delivering the tense set pieces you'd expect, but also with an emotional core that you might not."
A Quiet Place: Day One's debut was only surpassed by Inside Out 2. The success of the Pixar sequel hasn't wavered since its own opening.

To date, Inside Out 2 has generated $1.015 billion globally, securing its place as the highest-grossing movie of the year. In a spectacular feat, it has become the first film of 2024 to join the coveted $1 billion club.
Elsewhere, Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 didn't share the same success with its debut. The movie, which had a $100 million budget, only raked in $11 million from 3,334 cinemas. It landed in third place at the US box office.
A Quiet Place: Day One is out now in cinemas.
