Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Heidelberg University collaborate via HEiKA to expand KIT’s successful teaching format "Student Innovation Lab" (SIL). The project aims to strengthen entrepreneurial thinking in STEM programs and promote the transfer between university and industry. With HEiKA, the innovative teaching approach is extended to a national network level, creating expected synergies in topics, qualifications, business partners, and teams.

In response to the critical challenges posed by resource scarcity, food production demands, and climate change resilience, the project "Printed Cosmic Ray Neutron Sensors for Smart Agriculture" brings together a dynamic team led by Dr. Markus Köhli from the Physikalisches Institut at Heidelberg University and Prof. Dr. Gerardo Hernández Sosa from the Lichttechnisches Institut at KIT.

A collaborative effort led by Jürgen Hesser (Universitätsmedizin Mannheim) and Ines Langemeyer (IBAP, KIT) is breaking new ground with the "Living Lab for Studying the Effect of Communication in Medicine". Aiming to explore how cutting-edge technology is reshaping patient-physician communication through a unique serious game approach.

We were deeply saddened to learn of the death of our colleague and board member, Prof. Dr. Nora Szech.
We will miss her dearly and will keep her in our memories.

The HEiKA Graduate School on Functional Materials is integral part of the Cluster of Excellence 3D Matter made to Order (3DMM2O), which is a collaboration of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Heidelberg University (Uni HD). It pursues an interdisciplinary approach through conjunction of natural, engineering and sciences.

Since 2011, KIT and the University of Heidelberg have combined their complementary competencies in the HEiKA Research Bridges (formerly known as Heidelberg Karlsruhe Research Partnership) in six specific research fields, the so-called research bridges, in order to increase synergies and enhance national and international visibility.

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, briefly referred to as KIT, was established by the merger of the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe GmbH and the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) on October 01, 2009. KIT combines the tasks of a university of the state of Baden-Württemberg with those of a research center of the Helmholtz Association in the areas of research, teaching, and innovation.
